Welcome to the website of Beacon Hill School.

We hope you find it interesting and informative. Beacon Hill works to meet the needs of a range of young people with learning difficulties in a variety of different ways. Primarily we are a school for young people with severe learning difficulties and profound and multiple learning difficulties aged two to nineteen. Our commitment to high expectations and inclusion is indicated by the fact that our Post 16 young people work full time at Queen Alexandra 6th Form College. We are also a Specialist College for Business and Enterprise and relish the additional opportunity this provides for our young people in relation to developing their enterprise skills and awareness of the world of work.

As part of our commitment to the families of our young people and the local community we also run a fully inclusive before and after school provision (the Time Out Club) which provides high quality opportunities to young people from Beacon Hill and two local Primary Schools. Beacon Hill is also commissioned by the local authority to manage the sensory support service for children with hearing impairment and visual impairment. This is a mainly mainstream provision and we are proud of the impact the service has on the lives of the young people and families it works with. North Tyneside also commissions Beacon Hill to run its Portage service for preschool children with learning difficulties. Parents very much appreciate the regular skilled, home based support they receive from this service. Running through all of this work is our commitment to making sure the young people do the very best they can and have the best possible quality of life. To do this we actively seek the views of others and so would be grateful for any comments you could make or ideas you may have.
